Having read some of Lili Elbe’s memoirs, I had been unsure whether to see The Danish Girl. But if one is relaxed about the accuracy of the novel and then of the film adaptation what emerges is an engrossing tale of love and dedication.
Gerda’s love for Einar and Lili is deep, touching and ultimately life affirming. It is beautiful. It brings tears rolling down my cheeks.
To support your husband as he transitions as Gerda does is to take the marriage vows to a new level.
Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander’s performances are exceptional, especially Alicia.
Loved this film.
